For the NOS News, Hans van Cleef spoke about the trade deal between the US and the EU. The EU is going to import USD 750 billion worth of energy from the US over the next three years. But... Currently, the EU imports around 65 billion euros worth of energy from the US every year. To fulfill its commitments, the EU will have to import considerably more. How the EU wants to do that remains a mystery. And besides, the EU itself does not buy energy at all, the companies do. "In Brussels they can agree all sorts of things, but in the end it is commercial companies that make their own decisions," says Hans van Cleef, head of energy research at EqoLibrium.
